Common Questions

At Harmony Foundation, we understand that there are tons of unanswered addiction questions that anyone entering treatment will have. Below, we have prepared a set of addiction FAQs for you and your loved ones to help you better understand the process of addiction treatment and what to expect when you arrive.

What will my detox be like?

Harmony Foundation’s drug and alcohol rehab is one of only eight facilities in the state of Colorado licensed for medical detoxification, whether the substance is alcohol, benzos, opiates, or all three. Oral medications to ensure your comfort and safety will be administered under the supervision of our medical director, Dr. Michael Rountree.

What is the cost of treatment? Can I use my insurance?

Harmony’s charges vary depending on detox and medications. We have different payment options for non-insurance clients. We have many insurance contracts and will be happy to check your insurance coverage. Co-payment/deductible amount will be due at the time of admission. If you would like to verify your insurance coverage, please use our easy online form to submit your information.

If a family member is willing to get help, can I just drive them to Harmony?

All admissions must be screened, approved, and scheduled before arrival. All it takes is a phone call.

What can I bring to treatment?

See our list of what to bring.

Will I be in a lock-down ward?

No. Harmony is a voluntary program.

Can I have visitors and make phone calls?

We are not allowing visitations at this time. Clients may make and receive phone calls starting on their fourth day of treatment.

Will I have a roommate?

Harmony Foundation is a peer-driven addiction treatment program. We believe in community. Clients will have a roommate during detox, and when they move into the residential level of care they will share a cabin with one roommate.

Can you accommodate a vegetarian diet?

Absolutely! In addition to delicious, hot vegetarian entrees, we have the best salad bar in Estes Park, which is part of every lunch and dinner at our drug and alcohol rehab.

If you have additional questions, please feel free to call our addiction treatment specialists at 866.686.7867.

How long does inpatient or outpatient treatment last?

Harmony Foundation provides a variable length of stay driven by the American Society of Addiction Medicine criteria. Treatment is not determined by the number of days, but rather by the needs of each individual client. Our full continuum of care approach allows clients to advance through treatment based on their specific situation and clinical achievements.

Do you treat anything besides drug and alcohol addiction?

Many people who come to Harmony Foundation seeking treatment for drug or alcohol addiction also struggle with mental health issues such as depression, grief, anxiety or post-traumatic stress disorder. The combination of addiction and mental health conditions, known as “co-occurring disorders,” is quite common. Harmony Foundation’s medical staff, psychologists, and counselors are skilled at addressing the complexity of co-occurring disorders.

I like to work out. Can I do that while I’m in treatment at Harmony Foundation?

Recovery is a holistic approach, and this includes physical health. Both the Lodge and Swickard programs are equipped with fitness facilities that include weight rooms and cardio equipment. Walking trails are also accessible from the campus. Additionally, we offer outings to Rocky Mountain National Park, Indoor Climbing gyms and other resources to encourage movement.

Are Harmony Foundation staff members licensed and are the programs accredited?

Yes. Harmony Foundation treatment center staff are experienced professionals who hold licenses in substance abuse counseling or the professional discipline they represent, such as medicine, nursing, counseling, social work and more. Our programs are also licensed by the Colorado Office of Behavioral Health. We are accredited by Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

Will I get individual sessions with an addiction counselor?

Most of therapeutic sessions are conducted in a group therapy setting. Individual sessions do occur regularly with your counselor and/or various members of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
